Scott Replacing Hornish at RPM

Sam Hornish, Jr. 9The No. 9 Ford of Richard Petty Motorsports will have its third driver in the same number of years. It’s now been confirmed by multiple sources that the new driver will be Brian Scott.

New Driver for No. 9 in 2016

An official announcement of the new driver at RPM is expected by the end of this week.

Richard Petty confirmed almost a month ago that Sam Hornish would not return for a second season in the No. 9, but it’s now been confirmed that Brian Scott will pilot the No. 9 for RPM for the 2016 season.

Scott has participated the last three years in the Xfinity Series with Richard Childress Racing, and a total of six full-time years in the series overall.

The change in drivers at RPM is thought to be mainly about sponsorship, with results being secondary. Scott brings with him sponsorship from Shore Lodge, owned by his Scott’s father Joe Scott.
