Regan Smith to Become Pit Reporter for Fox Sports

Regan Smith - Fox SportsAlready a part of the Fox Sports family as a regular guest contributor to Fox Sports’ NASCAR Race Hub, Regan Smith will join the team as a pit reporter for the Fox Sports NASCAR broadcasts.

Cup Career Highlights

Smith won the 2011 running of the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, and took the Rookie of the Year award in his 2008 full-time Cup rookie season. His Cup career included over 200 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series starts.

Regan Smith most recent Cup experience was driving the No. 7 Tommy Baldwin Racing entry full-time for the 2016 MENCS season. He also substituted driver for Kurt Busch in the No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing entry for three races and one for Kyle Larson in the No. 42 Chevrolet in 2015. In May 2017, Smith replaced back-injured Aric Almirola in the Richard Petty Motorsports’ No. 43 car for the Monster Energy Open, the qualifying event for the Monster Energy NASCAR All-Star Race. The following week, Smith drove the No. 43 in the 2017 Coca-Cola 600.

Recent Racing

Outside of the Cup series substitutions in 2017, Smith also ran 13 Camping World Truck Series races for RBR Enterprises, ending with two top ten finishes.

Broadcast Beginnings

Smith took a broadcasting test drive with his race analyst debut at Iowa Speedway in June 2017’s NASCAR XFINITY race during Fox Sports 1’s presentation. He was also one of the first active NASCAR drivers to offer analysis for NASCAR Race Hub.

Yesterday, on Twitter, Regan said he couldn’t begin to tell everyone how excited he was to join the NASCAR on Fox family. He got congratulatory public messages from Dale Earnhardt, Jr., fellow Fox broadcaster, Jeff Gordon, and the reigning champion crew chief, Cole Pearn.
