In a bulletin released yesterday from NASCAR, along with clarification of 2015 rules and procedures, it was also announced that the March 2-3, 2015 NASCAR tire test at Atlanta has been canceled.
The tire test was scheduled to be held Monday and Tuesday following the second-week 2015 race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. No further details were given, but it was just before the Cup series begins its spring three-week West Coast swing.
Sprint Cup teams that were to have taken part in that test were the Chevrolet teams of Richard Childress Racing, Chip Ganassi Racing, as well as the Ford team of Roush Fenway Racing, while Michael Waltrip Racing was slated to test for Toyota teams.
The tire test would have been only the second sanctioned test of 2015 with the private team track testing now banned.
