Kyle Busch Talks Racing, Long Races, T-Shirt Sales, More

Friday afternoon at Martinsville Speedway, storms rolled in. The grandstands were evacuated. The threat of high winds, rain and possible hail also shut down the Cup inspection and garages. Cars were covered, and the garage tarps were rolled down. But in the center of the Martinsville infield, as Joey Logano finished his time in front of the reporters Kyle Busch sat at the back of the room, seemingly uninterested about Logano’s words or his surroundings.

As Logano’s time at the front of the room, and Busch proceeded forward, it was obvious the two Cup drivers would have to pass each other. Would there be more of a storm inside than the one predicted outside?

Daniel Suarez Commences Rough Weekend to End Rough Week

Wednesday, Dave Rogers crew chief of the No. 19 announced he was taking a leave of absence from Joe Gibbs Racing effective immediately. Rookie driver, Daniel Suarez is just six races into his relationship with Rogers, and is already having to adjust. The good news though is that Scott Graves is assuming the role of crew chief on Suarez’s team.

Graves served as Suarez’s crew chief last year in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, where the two won a championship together. The prior year, Graves was on crew chief Chris Buescher’s NASCAR Xfinity Series, which also resulted in a championship. That’s the good news. The two have a history, and Graves has won back-to-back championships in the Xfinity Series.

But this is the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, and this week it’s Martinsville.

David Ragan Talks Martinsville and NASCAR Experiments

So far for the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, the weather gods have been NASCAR fans. Daytona, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Fontana all went on without mother nature interfering. But the forecast week leading up to NASCAR returning to the East coast didn’t look as promising. Today, driving up to the shortest track on the schedule, Martinsville Speedway, it became obvious the day was going to be a battle with rain.
