NASCAR Suspends Kurt Busch Indefinitely

Alex Bowman & Kurt Busch at the 2014 Coca Cola 600Earlier today, a Delaware judge ruled that No. 41 Haas Automation Chevy driver, Kurt Busch likely committed an act of abuse against former girlfriend, Patricia Driscoll in the week leading up to the fall Dover Sprint Cup race.

Soon after the decision, NASCAR announced it would suspend Busch indefinitely for actions detrimental to stock car racing.

Stewart-Haas Racing weeks ago had noted they had a contingency plan in place were Busch to be suspended/not able to race. NASCAR Race Hub this evening said rumors are flying around the Cup garage that JR Motorsports Xfinity Series driver, Regan Smith was likely to drive the 41 for SHR.

SHR has not officially announced its plans, but expect an update from the team at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday. It’s not clear whether the No. 41 will run all season under Smith or another driver, or if plans are only to run the fourth SHR car for Daytona.

Update: It has been confirmed that Regan Smith will race the No. 41 for the Daytona 500, but plans beyond this weekend are undetermined.
