Martinsville Adds New Pre-Race Experience for Fans
The short-track racing of Martinsville is a great place to see a Sprint Cup race (or Camping World Truck race for that matter). But with it being an older facility and a short-track, fan access isn’t as great as it is at some of the larger tracks. The Virginia short track doesn’t even have enough infield room for both Cup and CWTS haulers to be there simultaneously.
Martinsville was the track that my son and I experienced our first Cup race in-person and we did the pre-race track walk, but it wasn’t worth the money in my opinion. The cars were still covered and the teams were barely on pit road as early as we were on the front stretch pre-race.
Starting this fall, Martinsville is offering a new pre-race experience called the “Green Flag Experience,” allowing fans the opportunity to watch driver introductions from Martinsville’s front stretch.
The Green Flag experience costs $30 per person and includes the following:
- Opportunity to watch driver introductions from the track
- Emceed driver Q&A sessions
- Doughnuts, Danishes, coffee and juice
- Music, games and prizes in both areas
- Show cars and simulators
- Access to the frontstretch of the track
- Photo opportunity in the flag stand
With the Green Flag experience, it has front stretch access, so I’m thinking it takes place of their previous pre-race add-ons.
