Like most in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series garage, the four car team of Hendrick Motorsports are going back to the past for the Darlington Raceway Southern 500. Three of the 4 HMS drivers have already revealed their throwback schemes for 2017, but Jimmie Johnson and primary sponsor, Lowe’s Home Improvement waited till this morning.
Lowes Darlington Throwback 2017
Earlier this morning, Lowe’s unveiled Jimmie Johnson’s throwback No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet SS, which he will pilot during the Southern 500.
Rather than taking design inspiration from another driver and car from NASCAR’s past, the No. 48 scheme is inspired by Lowe’s semis from 1986.
