While this is a reality today, I feel like there was a lot of speculation that Target was pulling out of sponsoring the No. 42 team for quite awhile. It’s official today. Target is leaving the sponsorship of the No. 42 at the end of the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season.

In Spring of 2015, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series sanctioning body setup a Drivers Council, allowing its drivers to add their input to the shaping of the future of the NASCAR sport. Going into its third season, some drivers have dropped off the council, being replaced by new drivers.
