The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series makes its second road course stop for 2017 and TriStar Motorsports’ No. 72 driver, Cole Whitt is looking to utilize recent good finishes to gain even more momentum at Watkins Glen International.
Whitt has three previous MENCS starts at the track, and has completed 189 laps and led two laps in 2015. The MENCS teams and drivers head to the state of New York this weekend for the I Love New York 355 at The Glen as the track is nicknamed. Located in the Finger Lakes Region of New York, Watkins Glen International is a 2.45-mile road course.
Having a preference and passion for road-course racing, Whitt is eager to suit up and compete in the RTIC Coolers No. 72. Having two solid weekends in a row, he and the No. 72 team are heading to The Glen with extreme focus and determination. Whitt finished 24th in last weekend’s Overton’s 400 at Pocono Raceway. The previous week, he finished just outside the top ten in 12th at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The track configuration NASCAR utilizes is comprised of a total of eight-turns for the NASCAR sanctioned events. It is the second and final road course on the 2017 MENCS schedule.
Whitt’s primary sponsor for this weekend on the No. 72 is RTIC Coolers. RTIC Coolers, the official cooler and drinkware of TriStar Motorsports, offers a variety of products that are ideal from the backyard to the outback and even more so at the race track. Launching a new product line of innovative styles and colors, RTIC beats the competitor hands down by being over built, not over-priced.
TriStar Motorsports NC, LLC currently fields one full-time entry in the MENCS with Whitt behind the wheel. They also field one entry in the NASCAR XFINITY Series — the No. 14 with driver J.J. Yeley. Located in Statesville, North Carolina, TriStar Motorsports has competed in the NASCAR XFINITY Series since 2010; fielding cars for some of NASCAR’s top drivers
