Fresh off of winning the 2015 Xfinity Series Championship, Chris Buescher is getting a full-time ride in the Sprint Cup Series, and his new team is getting a strengthened technical alliance.
Today Front Row Motorsports and Roush Fenway Racing announced a stronger technical alliance starting in 2016, that includes Chris Buescher driving the No. 34 Ford for Front Row Motorsports. The enhanced alliance includes RFR provided engineering and pit support.
“We are thrilled to announce this alliance,” said Roush Fenway President Steve Newmark.
“Not only will it foster increased communication within the Ford camp, it will allow our newest champion Chris Buescher to continue to hone his skills with substantial seat time behind the wheel in the Sprint Cup Series in top-grade equipment.”
Front Row Motorsports owner, Bob Jenkins said they’re ready for the next step and that the enhanced partnership with their fellow Ford Sprint Cup team, Roush Fenway Racing is a big part of that.
“Chris Buescher is a champion, and he’s a driver that we’ve worked with already and have great respect for, so he’s the perfect guy to bring into our line-up.”
Buescher already ran races for Front Row Motorsports in 2015 during the musical chairs of drivers swapping after Kyle Busch was injured and former No. 34 driver, David Ragan went first to fill in for Busch and then ultimately ended up in the Michael Waltrip Racing No. 55 after Brian Vickers was sidelined with blood clot issues again.
Front Row Motorsports said that their plans for their second Sprint Cup Series entry, the No. 38 Ford will be announced at a later date. The the No. 38 car was driven by David Gilliland in the past few years, but it’s unclear if Gilliland will return for 2016.
